    Spearfishing Yellowfin Tuna

    March 14, 2012 1 min read

Recently I was lucky enough to encounter my first Yellowfin Tuna on a trip to the Seamount, 80nm off Cairns. Myself and a few others made the trip out and were lucky enough to shoot Wahoo, Dogtooth and Yellowfin all in the same day. Unfortunately the sharks were relentless and we lost most of our fish which included a (est) 15, 25 and 40kg Dogtooth, 20kg Wahoo and I lost a 20-25kg Yellowfin tuna.

The visibility was amazing and we could easily make out the bottom in 45m of water which meant you had to make sure you were close before taking the shot. It was good to know that we all put good holding shots into these fish and if it wasn't for the sharks we would have landed all the fish we had shot!

Here are some pics and video of all the action.[gallery]
