If you are just starting out in freediving, plastic fins are fine and will provide plenty of use and enjoyment, all the while being durable and unlikely to snap, crease or crack. However if you are looking to take the next step in your freediving, it is beneficial for you to invest in composite fins, such as carbon or fibreglass blades as they will take you deeper for longer with more efficiency and, being higher in quality, will last you for many years, unlike plastic which gradually loses it's rigidity.
